Axis' Xtreme Verification System Assists in Speeding Up Time to Market for New Graphics Processors

Combined simulation/emulation solution scales to meet debugging requirements for a new generation of high-performance 3D processors from NVIDIA

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - February 20, 2002 - Axis Systems Inc., makers of high-performance system-on-a-chip verification solutions, today announced that NVIDIA Corporation has purchased Axis' Xtreme acceleration/emulation systems to verify designs for its 3D graphics processors.

"A company like NVIDIA needs to be at the forefront of processor development to stay ahead of its competitors," said Mike Tsai, Axis president and CEO. "Xtreme is fast and flexible, and gives customers like NVIDIA an edge in getting even the most complicated chip ready for market in a relatively short time."

"NVIDIA's designs have grown substantially from generation to generation," said Chris Malachowsky, NVIDIA co-founder and vice president of engineering at NVIDIA. "By adding Xtreme to our verification arsenal we are able to seamlessly progress from accelerated simulation to in-circuit emulation all with in the same system. When coupled with the powerful and familiar capabilities of Axis' advanced debugging capabilities, our overall productivity is greatly enhanced."

Used by chip and system-on-chip designers, Xtreme is based on Axis' patented ReConfigurable Computing (RCC) technology that enables software simulation, accelerated simulation, in-circuit emulation and hardware-software co-verification on a single platform and one design database.

NVIDIA purchased four Xtreme systems, which the company's engineers will use to debug the company's graphics processor designs. By bringing the simulation acceleration and emulation environments together, NVIDIA expects to shorten the development time for new processors. Xtreme is scalable and can handle increasingly complex chip designs.
